1. Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark Series)

Joanna is witty and cocksure. She’s good and she knows it and so do we.

2. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider Series)

No top 10 hottest fictional female character list is complete without Lara. Angelina Jolie’s ass crack lips aside, any woman who’s played her has been a fox in her own right. Call her what you want, Lara is a grave robber I’d let raid my crypt anytime.

3. Cortana (Halo Series)

The only woman you actually NEED inside your head all the time. Cortana is the most electric and consistently naked woman on this list.

4. Rubi Malone (Wet)

It’s my understanding that Wet is somewhat like Kill Bill. That I don’t care about, what I do care about is how much better looking Rubi is than Beatrix AND Rubi is voiced by Eliza Dushku. Now that makes me “wet.”

5. Rayne (Bloodrayne Series)

Rayne was hot before vampires were ruined by teenage girls. That’s not to say there aren’t other hot vampires out there *coughs* Monica Bellucci in Dracula *coughs* but I wanted Rayne to take a bite out of me back when goth was still taboo.

She may be ambiguously Japanese but she was actually crafted by the Brits. I love the Brits simply for their contributions to the vast well of ungodly hot women. (See also: Alice Eve, Lucy Pinder, Keeley Hazell, Rosie Jones, Sophie Howard, etc, etc, etc)

7. Anya Stroud (Gears of War Series)

Not many things are as awesome as a machine gun with a chainsaw bayonet. Give that to a woman who is bad ass enough to use it and she makes an already awesome weapon look impossibly better.

8. Morrigan (Dragon Age: Origins)

Not to be confused with Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalker. This Morrigan is a loosely moralled bitch… er I mean witch… just the way I like them.

9. Faith (Mirror’s Edge)

This woman is a daring gymnast. That alone would be enough but damn does she fulfill that Asian fetish nicely. If I ever need a beautiful coke mule, I’m calling Faith.

In the game Madison’s face looks fairly plain due to the uncanny valley graphics and brown color spectrum... that’s just awesome.

The 10 Best Video Game Consoles

There’s nothing like the first time you bought/unwrapped one of the best video game consoles you ever owned. The new plastic smell. The feel of a brand new controller. The first hum of an unfamiliar start-up sequence. The experience of getting new video game consoles is a gamer’s nirvana. Let’s  look back and fondly remember all of the video game consoles that made us smile and/or cringe upon playing them. These are the Top 10 Video Game Consoles of all time.

Virtual Boy

Why is one of the biggest flops in video game history on this list? One word: Risk. Nintendo took a huge risk in putting a VR-goggled, red tinted mess out on the shelves, but that is what the video game industry needs. We as gamers need companies to continually take risks so that innovation will come out of it and give us truly unique gaming experiences. Without the Virtual Boy video game console, we might have not gotten the Wii.

TurboGrafx 16

This video game console had cards instead of cartridges. It had no third party games. But the TurboGrafx 16 was fun as hell to play. Bonk’s Adventure was just a solid platformer with a good time-span. The TurboGrafx 16′s library included a game for everybody, whether you liked four on four wrestling video games or strategy video games. Military Madness gave the strategy game a new place to go. Splatterhouse was a milestone in the survival horror genre and World court Tennis is still the only tennis game to have a career mode that felt more like an RPG than a sports game. All in all, the TurboGrafx 16 is a barrel of good times if you can get a hold of one.

XBOX 360

The XBOX 360 has XBOX Live, which is the best online community out of any console. It was the first console to be made with wireless controllers as the main controller. It’s powerful machinery-wise and also has one of the best game libraries of all time. If it wasn’t for the “Ring of Death” Fiasco, the XBOX 360 might have been at the top of the Best Video Game Consoles of All Time list.

Atari 2600

The Atari 2600 is the granddaddy of home consoles. Some argue that Intellivision had far superior graphics and that is true, but the Atari 2600 made everyone want to have a gaming console. Playability aside, it turned the tide in gaming and helped usher in a new era for consumer video games.

Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii created feasible motion gaming, which is the next step in blurring the line between video games and reality. Looking back 50 years from now, the Wii may have been the starting point for Skynet’s robot uprising and inevitable takeover of humanity.

XBOX

The original XBOX is on this list for one reason…community. XBOX was the first console to truly embrace the idea that gamers NEED other gamers, and it showed through XBOX Live. The XBOX with XBOX Live  made playing your buddy 1,000,000 times easier and made playing a complete stranger even possible. Plus, I still can’t get the four TV Halo LAN parties out of my head.

Super Nintendo

First off, Super Nintendo had the first controller with more than three action buttons. CRAZINESS! But the SNES was also the easiest system to get lost in. When you started playing Super Mario World, you knew you were hooked. A Cape? 128 levels? Four different colors of Yoshis? You thought you’d never get enough of it. But you had to, because that Link to the Past cartridge had been staring at you from the EB shelves since it got there.

Nintendo 64

The N64 was the first console to TRULY capture the moniker “Next-Gen”. Mario Kart 64, Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time… No one had ever seen anything like it before and the system seemed to be capable of unexplainable power, perhaps to end world hunger and any sort of suffering or plight. Plus it had four controller slots built in. Go Play some Goldeneye if you don’t believe me.

Playstation 3

The PS3 is this high on the list because, at the time of this post, it is the most powerful and magnificent home console ever produced. Not only does it have a built-in Blur-Ray Player but it has a game library with some exclusive titles that have changed.

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

• If you are a gamer, you need no explanation. For you others, the NES is just simple and classic. Super Mario Bros., DuckHunt, RBI baseball, Castlevania, Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Mike Tyson’s Punch-out, Excitebike… The NES had the games that made gamers want to game.  Nuff’ Said.

Some of these video games are great and some of these video games are just plain awful, but all of them have been banned. All around the world people have seen these video games and, for one reason or another, decided to deny them the shelf space that all video games crave once they come to fruition. They’re violent, they’re raunchy, they’re politically charged… They are the Top 10 Banned Video Games.

Carmaggedon

Banned in Brazil

One of the first games I remember being criticized for too much violence was Carmageddon. In the game, you actually get points for everything you run over. People and animals were just points that ended up becoming horrific red smudges on the road. Just the first in many examples of okay games that got attention for being “Violent for violence” sake.

Thrill Kill

Banned Everywhere

At the time, Thrill Kill was a highly anticipated fighting game that promised simultaneous 4 – player action. What it became was a 4 – way, sadomasochist, gore-fest between lost souls in hell. Even though it was banned because of the violent content, the same game engine was used in the fighting game Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. Killah Bees!

Manhunt

Manhunt followed a prisoner who was promised release if he could make it through a wasteland of other criminal psychopaths and dispatch them in gruesome ways. With baseball bats, plastic bags and blades of all kinds, you controlled the mayhem and were recorded on various security cameras placed around the areas. It was banned in Australia for ultra-violence but interesting side note: In Canada, instead of being released as a video game, it was released as a film so it could be bought and distributed without any restrictions.

The Guy Game

Much like the beloved rap group 2 Live Crew, The Guy Game was banned in the USA. It is and always will be known as an awful, misogynist crap-fest of a game, but The Guy Game also broke the law. It was banned and recalled because one of the lovely young ladies that barred her boobies was actually 17. That’s technically child pornography. Whoopsie daisy, The Guy Game!

Fall Out 3

Banned in India

Everyone can agree that Fallout 3’s expansive world, in-game morality storyline changers and solid FPS game play made it one of the best games of our generation. However, it is banned in India. It was banned because of the ability to slaughter Brahmin, the 2 – headed cows that appear in Fallout 3. The Hindu religion looks upon bovine as sacred beings and hence the game was banned. Guess those guys can forget about playing “Fallout: Moo Vegas”. I know. I suck. Moo-ving on…

Postal

Banned in Australia, Limited USA release

“Going Postal” may be a common phrase in general life but it’s not as common in a video game store. Postal and Postal 2 decided to skirt the edge of controversial and instead opt for just plain silly violence. It was banned in Australia for violence and was given a limited release in the USA. Critics gave it overall middle of the road reviews but its gore and shock-value keep it in people’s mind.

Mass Effect

Banned in Singapore

Mass Effect is a great game that blends action and RPG elements in an interstellar journey that stands up there with the best games of all time. However, the government of Singapore banned it because of the ability to engage in a Lesbian encounter between a female Commander Shapard and the female humanoid, Liara. Singapore frowns upon Homosexual relationships. Oh well, more for me to watch then.

Sexy Poker

Hubba hubba! Sexy Poker is a Wii Ware game that was banned in Australia for obviously being WAY too sexy. Not much is known about the game play because honestly no one has ever purchased this game for a solid poker simulator experience. It is still banned but you can get around it by changing your Australian Wii to New Zealand’s country code in the settings menu. Sexy Poker time!

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Huh. For some reason Arab countries don’t want their citizens to play a game where most of the objectives are to blow up Arab terrorists. Go figure.

Football Manager 2005

Banned in China

Look at the picture above. Football Manager 2005 is definitely not violent. If you think red and blue dots on a soccer field are sexy or raunchy, go get some psychiatric help. Despite its mundane appearance, it was actually banned in the People’s Republic of China. Why? Football Manager 2005 recognizes Tibet as an independent country in the team selection menu. It just goes to show you that anyone can find a reason to not like a video game. Especially if that ‘anyone’ is China.
